ICC Awards 2010
India's Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar was named the Cricketer of the Year at the ICC 2010 Awards at Bengaluru. His compatriot Virender Sehwag was named the Test Cricketer of the Year, while South African batsman A B de Villiers was named the ODI cricketer at the 2010 ICC Awards in Bangalore today.
This is Tendulkar's first ICC Award ever. India's most capped player was also part the 2010 ICC Test team, which was led by India skipper M S Dhoni. The whole team announced at Bangalore included Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis, Hashim Amla, Simon Katich, Dale Steyn, Graeme Swann, James Anderson and Doug Bollinger.
Tendulkar was also named in the ODI team of the Year, which included Ricky Ponting, Shane Watson, Michael Hussey, de Villiers, Paul Collingwood, Dhoni, Daniel Vettori, Stuart Broad, Bollinger and Ryan Harris. Ricky Ponting was captain of the ODI team of the year 2010.
The best Twenty20 Performance of the Year was won by wicketkeeper batsman Brendon McCollum for his 116 not out against Australia in Christchurch in February this year.
The Emerging Player of the Year award went to 21-year-ol;d English cricketer Steven Finn. The ICC Spirit of Cricket Award was won by the New Zealand cricket team for the second time running. The Associate Player of the Year award was given to Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate, who had an excellent season in the English domestic season.
